Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili sauce or hot sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (for sauce)
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika (for sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat around 375°F to 400°F.
  2. Cut the chicken breast into evenly sized 1-inch cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and onion powder to the chicken.
  4. Toss the chicken well so all pieces are evenly coated with seasoning.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, chili sauce, garlic powder, and paprika to make the bang bang sauce.
  6. Thread the seasoned chicken pieces onto skewers, leaving small spaces between each piece for even cooking.
  7. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 10–12 minutes, turning them every few minutes.
  8. During the final minutes of cooking, brush a small amount of bang bang sauce onto the chicken.
  9. Check that the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and is fully cooked.
  10. Remove the skewers from the grill and brush with additional bang bang sauce before serving.

Notes

  • Cut the chicken into uniform pieces so it cooks evenly.
  • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 20 minutes before grilling.
  • You can cook the skewers in the oven at 400°F for about 15–18 minutes if a grill is not available.
  • An air fryer can also be used at 380°F for 10–12 minutes.
  • Brush the sauce during the final minutes of cooking to prevent burning.
  • Serve with rice, fresh salad, or grilled vegetables for a complete meal.
