Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples (preferably Granny Smith)
  • 16 ounces caramel bits ( bags)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • ⅔ cup chocolate chips (milk, dark, or white)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, then slice into 1-inch thick slices, removing the core and seeds.
  2. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and arrange the apple slices evenly.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine caramel bits and water. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted.
  4. Spoon the melted caramel over each apple slice. Let set at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine chocolate chips and vegetable oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
  6. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the caramel-covered apple slices. Add toppings if desired while the chocolate is still wet.
  7. Allow the slices to set completely, then remove from the parchment paper and serve.

Notes

  • Dry apple slices thoroughly to ensure caramel sticks well.
  • Use lemon juice to prevent apples from browning if prepping ahead.
  • Wash off wax coating from apples using hot water with lemon juice or baking soda.
  • Chill the slices after applying caramel to help it set faster and firmer.
