Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 9 Creamette lasagna noodles
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and cook Creamette noodles according to package directions until al dente
  2. Brown ground beef and Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat
  3. Add onions and garlic, cook until fragrant
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper
  5. Simmer sauce for 20 minutes to develop flavors
  6. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, half the mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese
  7. Season ricotta mixture with salt, pepper, and parsley
  8. Spread thin layer of meat sauce in baking dish
  9. Layer 3 noodles, half ricotta mixture, more meat sauce
  10. Repeat layers, ending with noodles topped with remaining sauce and mozzarella
  11. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes
  12. Remove foil and bake 15 minutes more until golden and bubbly
  13. Let rest 10-15 minutes before serving

  • Let assembled lasagna rest 15 minutes before baking for better texture
