Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9-inch) refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 white onion, diced
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning
  • 1 can (10 oz) Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies
  • 4 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 6 oz shredded cheese (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 3 cups crushed Doritos (Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a 9-inch pie pan with non-stick spray.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add taco seasoning and Rotel tomatoes to the beef and stir to combine.
  4. Stir in cream cheese and sour cream until melted and well blended. Remove from heat.
  5. Press the pie crust into the prepared pie pan, letting it hang slightly over the edges.
  6. Sprinkle half the crushed Doritos over the pie crust and gently press them in.
  7. Spread the creamy beef mixture evenly over the Dorito layer.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the meat layer.
  9. Top with the remaining crushed Doritos.
  10. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the crust is golden and the top is crisp.
  11. Let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Top with optional garnishes if desired.

Notes

  • A 9 1/4 oz bag of Doritos yields about 4 cups when crushed.
  • Cover with foil if Doritos brown too much while baking.
  • Crescent dough or gluten-free crust can be used as alternatives.
  • Can substitute beef with chicken or turkey.
  • Add-ins like beans, corn, or jalapeños work great for variation.
