2 cups black beans (cooked or canned, drained and rinsed)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1/4 cup onion (finely chopped)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
Burger buns or lettuce wraps
Lettuce
Sliced tomatoes
Red onion
Pickles
Avocado slices
Instructions
Place black beans in a bowl and mash until mostly smooth with some texture remaining.
Add garlic, onion, breadcrumbs, BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
Mix everything until well combined and a firm mixture forms.
Divide mixture into equal portions and shape into patties.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Cook patties for 4–5 minutes on each side until firm and slightly crispy.
Alternatively, bake or grill the patties if preferred.
Place patties on buns or lettuce wraps.
Add toppings like lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, or avocado.
Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
Chill patties for 15–20 minutes before cooking to help them hold together.
Add more breadcrumbs if the mixture feels too wet.
