Blackberry Margarita Smash

Sipping on a Blackberry Margarita Smash is like tasting summer in a glass! 🌞🍹 Fresh blackberries, zesty lime, and a kick of tequila. Ready to make your evenings sparkle? ✨

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4

Ingredients

1 cup fresh blackberries
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup tequila
1/4 cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)
2 tablespoons triple sec
Ice cubes
Lime slices and additional blackberries for garnish
Salt or sugar for rimming the glasses

Instructions

In a small bowl, muddle the blackberries with the sugar until the berries are broken down and the sugar is mostly dissolved.
Strain the blackberry mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
To the pitcher, add the tequila, lime juice, and triple sec. Stir well to combine.
Prepare your serving glasses by running a lime slice around the rim and then dipping the rim into a plate of salt or sugar, depending on your preference.
Fill the glasses with ice cubes and pour the blackberry margarita mixture over the ice. Garnish with lime slices and additional blackberries.
Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing blend of sweet blackberries and tangy lime.

Notes

Blackberry Bonanza: While fresh blackberries offer the best flavor and color, frozen blackberries can be a great substitute. Just let them thaw a bit before muddling to ensure they release their juices.

Tequila Talk: The quality of tequila can make or break your margarita. A good quality silver or blanco tequila is recommended for its clean, smooth taste that doesn’t overpower the fruity flavors.

Lime Light: Always opt for fresh lime juice over bottled for the freshest, most authentic flavor. The acidity perfectly balances the sweetness of the blackberries and agave.

Sweetness Scale: Adjust the amount of agave syrup based on the sweetness of your blackberries and your personal taste preference. Start with less, as you can always add more if needed.

Chill Factor: To keep your drink cold longer without diluting it too quickly, use large ice cubes in both the shaker and the serving glass.

Garnish Game: Get creative with your garnishes! A sprig of mint or a rim of salt could add an extra layer of flavor and texture to your drink.
