Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls or soft dinner rolls
  • 12 cubes mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  3. Using a small knife, cut a hole into the center of each roll without cutting all the way through.
  4. Remove a small amount of bread from the center to create space for the cheese.
  5. Insert one cube of mozzarella cheese into each roll.
  6. Arrange the stuffed rolls closely together in the prepared baking dish.
  7. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and Italian seasoning.
  8. Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the tops and sides of each roll.
  9. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the rolls.
  10. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  11. Remove from the oven and allow the rolls to cool for 2 to 3 minutes.
  12. Brush with additional garlic butter if desired.
  13. Garnish with extra parsley.
  14. Serve warm and enjoy the melted cheese center.

Notes

  • Use fresh mozzarella for the best cheese pull effect.
  • Do not overbake or the bread may become dry.
  • Fresh garlic provides the most robust flavor.
  • Monterey Jack, provolone, gouda, or cheddar can be substituted for mozzarella.
  • Add cooked bacon, pepperoni, or ham for a heartier variation.
  • Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven rather than the microwave for the best texture.
  • Freeze assembled unbaked rolls for up to 2 months.
  • Brush with extra garlic butter immediately after baking for maximum flavor.
