Ingredients
Scale
1 medium green cabbage, chopped (about 6 cups)
1 cup sour cream
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)
1/2 cup crushed crackers or breadcrumbs (optional topping)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
Cook the chopped cabbage in boiling water until just tender, then drain thoroughly.
In a large bowl, mix sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, melted butter, cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika.
Gently fold the drained cabbage into the creamy mixture until evenly coated.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Top with crushed crackers if using.
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until bubbly and lightly golden.
Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Drain the cabbage well to avoid a watery casserole.
Sharp cheddar adds more flavor, while mild cheddar keeps it subtle.
This casserole can be assembled a day ahead and baked when needed.
