Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups whole milk (cold)
  • 5.1-ounce box of instant banana cream pudding
  • 8-ounce container of whipped topping (thawed, divided in half)
  • 32 Nutter Butter cookies (plus 34 extra for topping)
  • 4 cups fresh banana slices (from 34 ripe bananas)
  • ¼ cup creamy peanut butter (slightly warmed for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk and banana pudding mix for 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  2. Fold in 4 ounces of the whipped topping and set aside.
  3. Layer 9–10 Nutter Butter cookies in the bottom of a trifle bowl.
  4. Top with a single layer of banana slices.
  5. Add half of the pudding mixture and spread it evenly.
  6. Repeat layers: cookies, bananas, then pudding.
  7. Top with final cookie and banana layers.
  8. Spread the remaining whipped topping on top.
  9. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  10. Before serving, crumble the extra cookies over the top and drizzle with warmed peanut butter.

Notes

  • Use ripe yet firm bananas for the best texture.
  • Whole or 2% milk works best; avoid plant-based milk.
  • Brush banana slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • Layer carefully to keep edges clean for a neat look.
  • Prepare a day ahead for softer, cake-like cookies.
