Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 2 to 3 cups shredded roast beef or sliced deli roast beef
  • 6 to 8 slices cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese, or provolone cheese
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add the sliced onion and cook for 5 to 7 minutes until tender and lightly golden.
  3. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and prepared horseradish until smooth.
  4. Without separating the rolls, slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Spread the horseradish mixture evenly over the bottom rolls.
  6. Layer the roast beef evenly over the sauce, then add the cooked onions and cheese slices.
  7. Place the top half of the rolls over the filling.
  8. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
  9. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 to 22 minutes, until the cheese melts.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for another 5 to 7 minutes, until the tops are golden brown.
  11. Let the sliders cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use well-drained roast beef to prevent soggy rolls.
  • Deli roast beef can be used instead of shredded roast beef.
  • Swiss, provolone, mozzarella, or smoked cheese can replace cheddar.
  • For a sweeter flavor, use caramelized onions.
  • Assemble the sliders up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate before baking.
  • Reheat leftovers in a 350°F oven for best texture.
