Ingredients

Scale
  • 10.5 ounces cream of mushroom soup (1 can)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups green beans (fresh, canned, or frozen)
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 6 ounces dry stuffing mix
  • 1.5 cups fried onions, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
  3. Fold in the green beans and half of the fried onions.
  4. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread the green bean mixture evenly.
  5. In a separate bowl, melt butter, then mix with chicken broth and dry stuffing mix until moistened.
  6. Spread stuffing over the green bean mixture, gently pressing into pockets.
  7. Top with the remaining fried onions.
  8. Bake for 40 minutes, covering with foil if the topping browns too quickly.
  9. Remove from oven and serve warm.

Notes

  • Fresh, frozen, or canned green beans can be used—fresh offers the best texture.
  • Substitute cream of chicken soup for a different flavor.
  • Add cheese, bacon, or sautéed mushrooms for variation.
  • Prepare ahead but add fried onions just before baking to keep them crispy.
